Frequently asked questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What do you do?

Willdoo helps businesses make better decisions faster, and turn them into measurable progress. We start by meeting you and understanding what you want to achieve, what feels stuck, and what success needs to look like.

From there, we take an independent look across the key areas of the business and pinpoint what’s helping performance, and what’s holding it back. Where it adds value, we can use our proprietary diagnostic to create a clear baseline and shape a prioritised, highly bespoke action plan.

We also support international businesses entering the UK, helping you approach the market with confidence, strengthen your tender responses and collateral, and get the right compliance evidence in place.

2. What types of businesses do you work with?

We primarily work with small to mid-sized businesses that are growing, changing, or facing operational challenges. This often includes owner-led companies, scale-ups, and organisations preparing for investment or exit.

Our experience spans technology-enabled businesses, healthcare suppliers, and service-led organisations in and outside of the UK.

3. Do you help international businesses enter the UK market?

Yes. We help international businesses enter and grow in the UK with clear, practical support from early market planning through to commercial execution.
That can include defining your route to market, clarifying your positioning, building a partner or channel approach, strengthening your UK sales process, and supporting tender or procurement activity where relevant.
The focus is always the same: remove uncertainty, reduce commercial friction, and help you build momentum in the UK with confidence.

3. What’s your background and why trust Willdoo?

Willdoo is led by Paul Thompson, a commercial director with over 30 years’ experience across sales, operations, and business strategy.

Paul has worked in senior roles within both start-up's and global organisations, giving him a strong understanding of how to balance commercial ambition with practical execution. His approach is grounded, direct, and focused on delivering measurable value — not theory.

4. How are your services delivered?

We work flexibly to suit your needs and the stage your business is at. This may include:

  • Short diagnostic or review projects with clear findings and action plans

  • Ongoing consultancy or advisory support

  • Interim or fractional leadership to cover capability gaps or deliver change

  • Project-based support, including ISO accreditation (through our ISO partner), sales strategy, or commercial turnaround work

The emphasis is always on clarity, delivery, and impact.

5. Do you only work locally to Sheffield?

Whist we are based in Sheffield, we work with businesses across the UK and internationally, including organisations in Italy, Spain, Austria, Denmark, Australia, Taiwan and Japan (and others).

Most engagements combine on-site visits with remote working, allowing us to deliver value efficiently without unnecessary overhead.

6. How much do your services cost?

Pricing is flexible and based on the scope, complexity, and duration of the work.

This can include fixed-fee review projects, daily or fractional rates, or project-based pricing. We’re transparent from the outset and focused on delivering significantly more value than we cost.

7. Can you help prepare my business for sale or investment?

Yes — this is one of our core strengths.

We help business owners identify barriers to sale, improve operational efficiency, strengthen commercial positioning, and present the business clearly and credibly to potential buyers or investors.

8. What industries do you have experience in?

Our experience includes healthcare technology, B2B services, compliance-led organisations, and equipment supply.

We’re particularly effective with businesses that sell a mix of products, services, and technology — where joined-up commercial thinking is essential.

9. What makes Willdoo different from other consultants?

We don’t produce lengthy reports that sit on shelves. We work alongside you to get things done.

Our advice is grounded in real-world experience, not abstract models, and we only take on work where we believe we can make a meaningful difference.

10. How do I get started?
